Work In Motion

My journey has been a winding one, exploring the realms of dance, education, art, brain development, psychotherapy, life coaching, and trauma recovery. It was through somatic movement & expressive arts education and therapy that I finally found the thread connecting these passions. Today, I use movement, dance, and the expressive arts to guide others on their own paths of self-discovery.

Life in Motion

Annika is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (RSME/T) with a passion for supporting individuals of all ages in navigating life's challenges through movement and creative expression. Her background in dance and behavioral education sparked an interest in the connection between movement, nervous system development, and well-being. This led her to study developmental movement patterns, BrainDance, and the DanceAbility method, informing her work with diverse populations, from babies and toddlers to seniors.

Annika's training at the Expressive Arts Institute of Oregon and The Embody Lab provided her with extensive knowledge in somatic psychology, trauma recovery, and interdisciplinary approaches to healing. She holds a certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy and is passionate about integrating wellness practices into dance education, as evidenced by her professional case study, Whole Person, Whole Dancer.

Today, Annika offers 1:1 embodied expressive arts sessions, wellness workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings. She also consults with parents and families, providing support and normalizing struggles.

Annika is a member of ISMETA, NDEO, and ADTA, and has presented at the Nation Dance Education Organization (NDEO) national conferences about sustainable dance community wellness practices. She lives in the Pacific Northwest, where she enjoys art, nature, and photography.
